Google have set up usability testing lab

ZDnet UK is reporting that Google have opened a small internet cafe in London’s Heathrow Airport called Google Space – But compared to other cafes this one can be used by the commuters free of charge. So what’s the catch? Google wants to use the cafe as a real-world usability testing lab. Google will each day man the café with its own personal flown in from their offices around the world.

Slashdot is also running a story on this.

On the other hand .. Excelent cutting edge buisiness strategy. Nice to see someone thinks out of the box, and actualy does sometning untraditional.

Meanwhile Google are being incredibly proactive (and maybe a bit Big Brother) in opening a Google Space usability lab at Heathrow where they can assess a large volume of user experiences. Jesper Rønn-Jensen and Thomas Watson Steen alerted me to this through their Standards & Usability blog
